“I’ll Fire Wenger If I Buy Arsenal” – Nigerian Billionaire Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote, Nigerian businessman, says the first thing he will do if he acquires Arsenal football club is to fire Arsene Wenger, the coach.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Dangote said his desire to own the club dates back to the mid-1980s.

Dangote said he’d consider making an offer once the construction of his $11 billion oil refinery in Lagos is completed.

“The first thing I would change is the coach. He has done a good job, but someone else should also try his luck,” he said.

Stan Kroenke, American billionaire, is Arsenal’s biggest shareholder, controlling 67 percent of the company.

Earlier in the year, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who holds a 30 percent stake, sought to buy out Kroenke in an offer that valued Arsenal at an estimated $2.6 billion.

Dangote says he’s optimistic that the right offer will persuade Kroenke and Usmanov to sell their shares to him.

“If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away. Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away. And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that,” said Dangote.

Since his appointment to the north London club in 1996, Wenger has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies.

In May, he agreed to a new two-year deal despite calls by fans for him to step down.

Kojokrom Lifts the Kundum Community Gala Trophy for the Third Time

Yesterday was such joyous moment for the Kojokrom community as they lifted the Kundum trophy. It was a keenly contested competition with Anoe and Nyensia playing the first match with the former winning by a goal to nil.

The Dream Team of Kojokrom faced Mepeasem but it appears the latter couldn’t stand the pace of the likes of Flamini and Nana Awortwe with Edukwa as the arrowhead from the Kojokrom Team. The Dream Team of Kojokrom won by a goal to nil as well and beat Anoe on penalties in their second match therefore paving the way for them to the finals where they met Essikado-the host community and with their massive support on the day, they were still beaten as well with Akiti converting the winning penalty therefore crowning Kojokrom as the winners for the third time in 5 years.

At the end of the competition, goalkeeper Ofori popularly known in the community as Casillas was adjudged the best goalkeeper for his heroics saves during the penalty shootouts whiles the golden boot went to Isaac Owusu Ansah aka Flamini.

Manchester United Rejected Real Madrid Star because ‘his head was too big’

The Red Devils scouted the Real Madrid man for many seasons, but they disregarded his signing because they believed his head was ‘too big for his body’.

Following Isco’s phenomenal display against Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup, ESPN revealed that the Premier League outfit could have signed him before he joined Zidane’s team.

In 2013, when Isco was still at Malaga, the Red Devils were following him closely and were willing to sign him. However, they pulled out at the last minute, and the reason is rather strange.

‘He’s good, but not quite quick enough and his head is too big for his body’, the scouting report said about the talented midfielder. Finally, he joined Real Madrid that very year.

It came towards the end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure, and United missed out due to concerns over the player’s proportions. Over time, Isco has established himself as one of the best players in Spain and Real Madrid.

Messi says farewell to PSG-bound Neymar with $250 Million Involved in the Transfer

Lionel Messi bid farewell to Neymar after Barcelona confirmed the Brazil star told the club of his desire to move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar turned up at Barca’s training ground on Wednesday but did not train with Ernesto Valverde’s squad, instead signalling his intention to leave before saying goodbye to his teammates.
Barca have since released a statement referring PSG to the 25-year-old’s €222 million buyout clause and saying it must be paid in full.
“It was an enormous pleasure to have shared these years with you Neymar, friend,” he wrote. “I wish you a lot of luck in the next stage of your life. See you.”

Mourinho: Matic wants United ‘move very, very much’

Jose Mourinho revealed the Chelsea man’s desire to make the switch to Old Trafford, as he refused to confirm the deal.

Jose Mourinho spoke about the potential deal after his side overcame Valerenga in a pre-season friendly, but he refused to be drawn upon the details of the transfer.

‘I’m waiting for news. I know that he wants the move very very much’, the Portuguese coach said. ‘When he wants very much the chance is bigger’.

He was reluctant to discuss any further, not knowing how close the deal was to completion: ‘I refuse to say more than I’m telling you’, he added. ‘I think we have a chance but in football until it’s official, I saw so many things happen’.

Mourinho took advantage to confirm Marouane Fellaini will remain at Old Trafford. ‘It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane. He is too important to me. No chance’, he concluded.

€1.511 Billion Spent, 84 signings… and no Champions League

Manchester City are very close to breaking the record for summer spending, but the great investment carried out in recent years has not generated the desired returns.

The Abu Dhabi fund purchased Manchester City some nine years ago and since then the Citizens have been fighting for the Premier League title.

Owner Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has had no hesitation when it comes to spending. From 2008 onwards, City have spent 1,511.72 million euros on a total of 84 players.

The club has won titles thanks to the money put forward, but not to the extent the investors would have hoped for: in nine years City have won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and one Community Shield.

In Europe, the furthest the team has reached was the semi-finals in 2016. They were knocked out by Real Madrid, but it was an improvement for a team who had not qualified from the group stage until 2013.

Pellegrini and Guardiola, two of the most admired managers in the sport have attempted to lead City to their prime objective: the Champions League.

For the tenth consecutive summer, sheikh Mansour will do anything to bolster his side’s hopes of lifting the coveted trophy. If City spend 12 million more, they will surpass the record set by Real Madrid in 2009.

Shock as Ex-Kotoko & Hearts player Emmanuel Yartey goes MAD

Former Ghana Premier League star, Emmanuel Yartey, who was popularly known in his playing days as ‘Dr Panie’, is reported to have gone mentally ill and roaming the streets of Accra.

Yartey, who played for Ghana’s two most popular clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, ended his professional career after the 2002/2003 season and has struggled with life afterwards
A photo of Yartey’s current state was met with shock and horror on social media as he appeared visibly older than his age, and extremely grubby.

In 2007, reports gained currency in the local media that the former Okwahu United midfielder had some mental health problems, but the player rubbished those reports.

He then announced a decision to re-launch his career by training with his community club but his mental situation further degenerated after unsuccessful attempts to find a club

Arguably one the most skillful Ghanaian players ever to grace the local league, Yartey, who last played for Hearts of Oak, is now roaming the streets of Accra.

He has been spotted by several football fans around the Bubuashi traffic light and other busy streets of the capital.

A playmate of Yartey, who spoke to SportsObama.com on condition of anonymity said he used to train with the nimble footed midfielder at the Darkuman Cable and Wireless Park- and wasn’t surprised at his current state as he (Yartey) has been engaged in drugs.

“Some years back, he used to join us train at this same field but we usually noticed some uncommon behaviours and actions”,

“Some of us are aware he was doing drugs and later, he stopped coming to train. We would not see him for months then he will resurface again in some funny clothes even without slippers”,

“It is sad to see him this way, but I’m not surprised as I had seen him through this despite attempts from some people to help but it just can’t stop”.

The Darkuman-born midfielder, was once touted as a prospect for the senior national team, the Black Stars, but that has remained a delusion.

Yartey, who last played for Hearts of Oak during the 2002/2003 season had previous stints with Okwawu United and Asante Kotoko.

He was a specialist is creating good shooting and goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates durings his days with Hearts of Oak in the late 90s.

He was blessed with sweet feet but failed to live up to the hype

John Antwi Ready for Black Stars as He is Named as the Best Striker in Egypt

John Antwi has been adjudged the best striker in the just ended 2016/2017 Egyptian Premier League by Kingfut.

His 11 goals scored in the second round of the League on loan, ensured that Msr Lel Makasa qualified for next season’s CAF Champions League ahead of Zamalek which placed 3rd on the League log.

Antwi happens to be the only Ghanaian Player to win the Golden Boot(Top Scorer’s) Award and also make it into the team of the season on two occasions in the Egyptian Premier League.

The Egyptians refer to him as the “GOLDEN BOY” and his golden goals are guaranteed anytime he plays. I do believe Coach Kwesi Appiah is monitoring his progress and a call to the senior team wouldn’t at come as a surprise at all. The name again is John Antwi.
